Our Promise

This time, it’s different.

A private practice for U.S. families with ten million dollars and above. We reduce what you owe, protect what you love, and keep your capital durable across generations — with a single advisor who knows your name, your numbers, and your intentions.

A concierge practice for

Households at ten million and above, who want one advisor who actually picks up the phone.

Balanced Wealth Private is built for one kind of client: a U.S. family with a net worth above ten million dollars who is looking for a true concierge financial advisor — not a call center, not a junior associate, not a different name on the next quarterly statement. If you have outgrown the standard planning conversation, this practice is for you.

The relationship has no boundaries. We are virtual by design and available when you need us — early morning before a closing, on the road between homes, on a weekend when an estate decision cannot wait until Monday. One advisor, one direct line, one bound plan that lives with your family for decades.

No geographic boundary

Clients in 20+ states. We come to you, or you come to us — either works.

No office hours

Same advisor, same direct number. Weekends, evenings, and travel days included when the matter is real.

Virtual by default

Encrypted video, secure document portal, e-signature, and a private mobile line.

The Three DisciplinesII

Tax. Legacy. Safety.
In that order.

Every meaningful problem an eight-figure family faces falls into one of three disciplines. We organize the entire engagement around them, so nothing is left to improvisation.

Reducing Taxes

Keep more of what you have already earned.

“Taxation is the largest expense in a high-net-worth life. We treat it like one.”

We coordinate directly with your CPA and counsel to engineer the lowest defensible lifetime tax bill — across income, capital gains, gift, and estate. Decisions are mapped years in advance, not assembled in April.

  • Charitable, donor-advised, and CRT structuring
  • Concentrated stock and 10b5-1 disposition planning
  • Roth conversion ladders and bracket management
  • State residency, trust situs, and QSBS positioning
  • Real-estate cost segregation and 1031 exchanges

Taking Care of Loved Ones

A legacy that arrives intact, and on time.

“What you leave behind should require no translation.”

We assemble the full architecture of trusts, beneficiaries, insurance, and instructions so that your spouse, children, and grandchildren inherit clarity — not a legal puzzle. Reviewed annually, with every life event.

  • Revocable, irrevocable, and dynasty trust coordination
  • Generational gifting strategy within annual exclusions
  • Beneficiary, titling, and TOD/POD audit
  • Survivor cash-flow modeling and liquidity planning
  • Ethical-will and family-meeting facilitation

Making Investments Safe

Built to compound, engineered not to break.

“Above ten million, the goal is not to win the year. It is to never lose the decade.”

Our research desk, led by a CFA and finance professor, builds globally diversified, fee-aware portfolios with explicit drawdown limits. Risk is named, sized, and reviewed; nothing is held because it is fashionable.

  • Multi-asset diversification across equity, fixed income, and real assets
  • Defined drawdown ceilings and stress-tested allocations
  • Direct indexing for ongoing tax-loss harvesting
  • Custody at Schwab and Fidelity — your name, your account
  • Quarterly written reviews with plain-English commentary
The PromiseIII

One advisor. For life.
Virtually, or in person.

From the day you sign on to the day your grandchildren do, you work with the same advisor. The relationship is multi-decade by design. The delivery is yours to choose — an encrypted video review from your home in Aspen, an in-person family meeting in our Rhode Island office, or both in the same week.

§ i

Virtually

Encrypted video, secure document portal, and a direct mobile line. Quarterly written reviews delivered as bound PDFs. Same advisor, same number, every time.

  • Direct mobile and email — no call centers
  • Encrypted client portal for documents and signatures
  • Same-day response on weekdays, written follow-up on file
§ ii

In Person

A walnut-paneled office in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, and travel to your residence when the matter calls for it. Family meetings hosted on-site or at a venue of your choosing.

  • Private office hours by appointment
  • On-site family and next-generation meetings
  • Travel to client residences for material decisions
The Engagement
IV

Five steps from introduction to lifelong stewardship.

Onboarding is deliberate and unhurried. New relationships typically move from first conversation to fully implemented plan in less than four months — and then continue, without re-introduction, for as long as you wish.

  1. I

    Private Introduction

A confidential 45-minute conversation. We listen first, share our practice, and confirm fit. No documents required, no obligation.

    Delivery

    Video or in person

  2. II

    Discovery & Audit

We assemble your full financial picture — returns, trusts, beneficiaries, equity grants, insurance, real estate, debt. We identify the three issues that, if addressed first, will yield the largest improvement.

    Delivery

    Approx. 3 weeks

  3. III

    The Written Plan

A bound, plain-English plan covering tax, legacy, and capital. Specific recommendations with year-by-year sequencing, modeled in three economic environments.

    Delivery

    Delivered in person

  4. IV

    Implementation

We coordinate with your CPA, attorney, and existing custodians. New accounts open at Schwab or Fidelity in your name. Trusts, gifts, and harvesting moves are scheduled and executed.

    Delivery

    60 to 120 days

  5. V

    Lifetime Stewardship

Quarterly written reviews, an annual on-site, and direct access to your advisor when life moves — a sale, an inheritance, a marriage, a market dislocation.

    Delivery

    Ongoing, for life

Robert Auclair, CFP®
principal, by appointment.

Rob is a Certified Financial Planner™ with thirty years of practice, a 1996 graduate of Providence College in accountancy, and the founder of Balanced Wealth Management. He built the firm on a single principle inherited from his father, a business professor at Providence College: plan as if the family will be reading it for fifty years.

His career began at State Street Bank as a bond accountant and continued at Northwestern Mutual, where he was named New Representative of the Year and achieved Million Dollar Round Table status. He has been featured on WNAC-64 Fox "Money Pros" for four years and on WPRO-AM 630, and currently co-hosts Retire With Balance across Fox Providence, CBS 12 (WPRI), and NBC 10 (WJAR) — the two long-running local Providence stations that carry the program.

The private practice is led by Rob personally, supported by a credentialed team that includes a CFA-charterholder finance professor, a senior practice manager with three decades in private banking operations, and Rob’s sister Susan, who has run hands-on client service inside the firm for years. It is a family practice, by design.

From letters receivedVI

What clients have written, in their own hand.

§ iOn continuity
We have not had to introduce ourselves to a new advisor in nine years. That is, on its own, the most valuable thing he has done for us.

A retired founder

Client since 2017

§ iiOn the work itself
He showed us a tax move our prior firm had missed for a decade. Quiet, specific, and worth far more than what we pay him. The plan reads like it was written for our family, because it was.

A second-generation business owner

Client since 2019

§ iiiOn peace of mind
After my husband passed, Rob walked our daughters through everything in plain English — trusts, accounts, what to do and when. We finally felt looked after rather than sold to.

A widow and her two adult daughters
